1.3 Browser Extension
If you install the TextualChef browser extension, recipe detection happens entirely within your browser. The content of the pages you visit is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The extension:
Settings: Stores your extension preferences (for example, sites where you have turned the extension off) in your browser's extension storage. Your browser may sync these settings across your devices; we do not receive them.
Anonymous Usage Analytics: Sends anonymous usage events to our analytics provider, such as when the extension is installed or the reader view is opened, together with a randomly generated identifier and the hostname of the site involved. These events contain no page content, no browsing history, and no personal information. You can turn analytics off in the extension's options at any time.
Import: If you choose to import a recipe into TextualChef, the address (URL) of that page is sent to your TextualChef account to perform the import.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve our services
Process transactions and send related information, including confirmations, receipts, and user experience surveys
Verify your subscription status across devices
Synchronize your favorites and saved content across devices
Send technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages

Personalize and improve your experience
Send you product and marketing email about Textual Chef (for example feature announcements, recipe highlights, and offers). Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops marketing email immediately. Service and billing messages (verification, receipts, trial-ending reminders) are sent regardless of marketing preferences because they are part of operating your account. We use Resend as our email delivery provider; your email address is shared with them solely to deliver our messages.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share the information we collect in the following circumstances:
3.1 With Service Providers
We share information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf, including:
Payment Processors: We use Stripe for web and Apple payment processing, and Google Play for Android payment processing. These services collect payment information directly to process your transactions. We do not store your full payment information on our servers.
Authentication Services: We use Firebase Authentication to manage user accounts and authentication.
Cloud Storage: We use Firebase to store and synchronize your app data.
Analytics: We use PostHog to collect usage analytics for the app, our websites, and the browser extension, so we can understand which features are used and improve them. Analytics data is not sold or used for third-party advertising.
Error Monitoring: We use Sentry to collect crash and error reports from the app. Reports are scrubbed of personal information before they are sent.
3.2 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose your information if we believe that disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
